Why this happens

• Design exported at trim-only size instead of full wrap (back + spine + front + bleed).
• Wrong trim size selected vs interior PDF (e.g. 6×9 vs 5.5×8.5).
• Spine width outdated after page count or paper type changed.
• PDF page box (MediaBox) left at a template size that no longer matches KDP calculator output.

How Cermify detects it

1. Compute expected full-wrap width/height from trim, spine, and bleed.
2. Read upload width/height (PDF page box or image pixel size ÷ DPI).
3. Compare against tolerance for KDP paperback wrap.
4. Flag mismatches as C-TRIM.

Automatic repair

Auto Repair resizes the PDF page box to the target full-wrap size only. It does not redesign artwork. Raster JPG/PNG wraps are guided: re-export at the correct canvas size.

Manual fix

1. Confirm trim size, page count, paper type, and bleed in KDP.
2. Regenerate or resize the cover template to the listed full-wrap dimensions.
3. For PDF: accept Cermify page-box resize if offered, then visually inspect.

FAQ

Will resizing the PDF page box crop my art?

Page-box resize changes the canvas metadata/size. Artwork may letterbox or sit incorrectly—always preview before uploading to KDP.

Why did size break after I added pages?

More pages widen the spine, so full-wrap width increases. Re-export the cover when interior page count changes.

Is this the same as C-RATIO?

Related. C-RATIO catches front-only uploads when a wrap is required; C-TRIM catches wrong overall wrap dimensions.
